Under the leadership of President Evariste Ndayishimiye, the Ministry of Commerce organized the launch of the General States of Tourism session in Burundi for the year 2024 on February 27th and 28th, 2024. The event took place at the Club du Lac Tanganyika Hotel.

The theme for this session was: “Tourism, a driver of economic growth for a Burundi, an emerging country by 2040 and developed by 2060.”

Minister of Commerce, Marie Chantal Nijimbere, explained that the General States of Tourism in Burundi are part of the country’s tourism take-off strategy. The government is committed to fostering constructive dialogue between the public and private sectors to implement the government’s vision of a “Burundi emerging by 2040 and developed by 2060.”

Olivier Suguru, President of the Federal Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the need to continue developing tourist sites, training tourist guides, and always striving for innovation to attract tourists to our beautiful country.

President Evariste Ndayishimiye encouraged all Burundians to have patriotic love, maintain good behavior, and plant flowers to beautify the city and neighborhoods, making tourists eager to visit and admire the landscape of our beautiful country.

President Evariste Ndayishimiye also urged certain leaders who engage in unworthy behavior by demanding commissions from investors who want to invest in Burundi to stop such practices and instead encourage them.
